As 2024 draws to a close, we at BLKN Escapes reflect on a year filled with unforgettable adventures, heartfelt connections, and glowing memories shared with our travelers. From Croatia’s sun-kissed Adriatic coastlines and the medieval charm of its historic towns, to Montenegro’s rugged mountains and serene fjords, Bosnia-Herzegovina’s rich tapestry of culture and history, and Slovenia’s picturesque lakes and alpine scenery, we’ve tailored journeys that celebrated the unique beauty and culture of the Balkans.
Here’s a look back at some of the incredible private tours we organized for our cherished travelers this year:
April: Zaki & Claire from London
Zaki and Claire embarked on a personalized adventure, exploring the cobblestone streets of Dubrovnik, marveling at the serene waters of Lake Bled, and immersing themselves in the rich history of Split. Their journey also included guided tours through medieval towns and opportunities to savor local cuisines, making it a perfect blend of culture, nature, and gastronomy.
May: Bruce & Nadine from California
Bruce and Nadine’s private tour of Croatia and Montenegro was a blend of relaxation and discovery. Highlights included picturesque Kotor Bay, a speedboat ride to Hvar, and a curated culinary experience at a local winery. Review highlight: "Alex’s attention to detail made every stop special... Marose and her group of friends and family fell in love with Croatia’s charm on a private tour in late May. From capital of Croatia -Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes’ cascading waterfalls to the coastal allure of Split, every moment was filled with awe and joy.
May-June: Lucia & Rudolf from Australia
Lucia and Rudolf’s 20-day private tour across Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania was an epic adventure. Highlights included exploring the historic streets of Sarajevo, enjoying the breathtaking waterfalls at Plitvice Lakes, exploring Caves of Slovenia, experiencing the magical Durmitor in Montenegro and many more . They also relished local cuisine and wines in Istria and Dubrovnik, making their journey both scenic and flavorful.
David from the USA discovered the wonders of Croatia and Slovenia on a custom itinerary. Simultaneously, a wonderful small group from Mexico — Salvador, Martha, Fernando, Carmen, Miguel, and Angelica — immersed themselves in Croatia and the Balkans rich culture and scenic beauty on a personalized private tour package.
July: Family Adventures and Group Explorations
The Blandon family from California enjoyed a 12-day private tour of Croatia, including a day trip to Slovenia. Robin from the US and her extended family explored hidden treasures and iconic sights, creating lasting memories on a bespoke itinerary through Croatias most iconic locations.
August: Majdie, the Lee Family, and More
Majdie and her family explored Croatia’s stunning landscapes on a personalized tour, while the Lee family’s private 9-day journey included Zagreb, Lake Bled, Ljubljana, Plitvice Lakes, Sibenik, Krka National Park, Korcula and Dubrovnik. Richard and Yvonne from the USA, enjoyed private post-cruise tour, while David and Jolene had a persoalized private tour package which included highlights of Croatia & Slovenia filled with culinary delights, olive orchards, and even truffle hunting in Istria and horseback riding in the valley of Plitvice Lakes.
September-October: Small Groups and Family Memories
September welcomed Jay and his wife on a Croatian adventure, while a small group of 6 from Mexico — Alex, Rocio, Alejandra, Alfredo, Jose, and Patricia — explored Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Montenegro on a 10-day private tour.
In October, Neven and his business partners experienced a private pre-cruise tour of Croatia and Slovenia. Meanwhile, the Chung, Chan & Wong family from California enjoyed an in-depth 15-day Balkans journey, leaving a wonderful review: "Alex did all the heavy lifting on this trip, so we could enjoy the tour and make the best family memories! We also had the pleasure of organizing a luxury small-group tour for four seniors from the USA, whose multi-day private tour of Croatia and Slovenia showcased both iconic landmarks and lesser-known treasures on a 12-day itinerary.
December: Unforgettable Winter Journeys
December’s highlights included Pauline and her friend winter exploration of Croatia and Slovenia, where festive markets and snowy landscapes added magic to their travels.
